About the ArtistDrawing has always been something I use to self reflect. You can do it either with friends or by yourself. I started drawing in middle school, I enjoyed just drawing my favorite characters from shows, movies and even video games. It became something I did almost daily.

Reflections on Urban Sketching
Before this class i wasn't familiar with Urban Sketching, in fact i had never heard of it before. Starting the
class and going through with it was fun, and I learned an entire new way to draw. I learned alot about
perspective and shading. I also learned how to draw people from different distances. My skills with Urban
SKetching weren't the best at the beginning of the semester, and I wouldn't say they're at their full potential
yet either. But, I have improved greatly with perspective, it was something I really struggled with before.
Being able to correctly place a building so that the proportions and surrounding scenery are correct is very
important to the overall image. Drawing in public has also been something very new to me. I'd never drawn
in front of other people until this class.

Church
This was the first Urban Sketch I'd done after my knee surgery. It was very enjoyable because I was finally
able to get out of the house even if I had to stay in the car. This was also my first attempt at drawing stone
brick walls. I've gotten much better at it since this photo but don't think my attempt was terrible.

The Galley
This Sketch was my first attempt at drawing people who were close enough to see detail. I was very nervous
at first, i didn't want anyone to see me drawing them cause that could get awkward. But the more I drew the
easier it became. I think I did a pretty good job on drawing the boy on the right legs wrapped around the legs
of the chair. I also tried to focus on putting more detail into him and less into the girl behind him so you could
tell she was further away.

Stairs
This sketch is definitely not one of my more detailed sketches. But I chose to include this sketch because of
the stairs and the depth of the drawing. I really struggled with this because from the angle I was sitting at the
stairs just cut off at the bottom of the sketch. And making them not look like they connected to the building in the background was a great challenge. And i'm glad that I chose a unique angle to draw at, to really
challenge myself and try something different.

Urban Sketching Kit
My kit really had the bare minimum. It includes a pen, pencil and brush pen and some water color paints.
Keeping it simple was good for me, having too much equipment would distract me from my sketches. My
favorite tool to use was just the pencil. I was most familiar with it and enjoyed drawing with it the most.
Especially because you can erase pencils, so you're not forced to incorporate mistakes into your sketch.
When I did use multiple tools to make my sketch I always started with pencil. Then I would go over that with
either my basic ballpoint pen or the brush pen. Then finally if the image needed some color I would add
watercolor over on top of that after the pen had time to dry onto the paper.
