Reflections on Urban SketchingPractice and patience is the key to getting better! FAA 305 has exposed me to new styles and techniques of drawing. It allowed me to experiment with new materials I usually would never try. Thanks to professor Sauter for coming over to sit with me to show me his toolbox and examples of techniques. The one on one helped me visualize techniques I was trying to accomplish. This class has boosted my self confidence in drawing. Understanding one’s perspective and horizon line has helped me understand how to draw a proper structure and figure out where to place a drawing. Although I am sad this class has come to an end I look forward in continuing my urban sketching journey.

Bear Ears National Park
Located in San Juan County in Utah the two bluffs resemble bears' ears poking up amongst the ridge. It’s an homage to the local five Native American tribes meant to protect the lands cultural and natural resources. It is a national monument established by former President Barack Obama. Obed Wild & Scenic River
Located in Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau is the Clear Creek that runs through the park. This park is not only home to wildlife but a family of four lives on the edge of the park. This home in the woods provides opportunities for all including food, hiking, swimming. It’s a place of solace and joy. (Photo Sketch, National Parks Magazine)
