Higher Education & Advising Professional
I have considerable experience in advising and academic affairs with over 25 years in higher education. I began my career as an AmeriCorps VISTA at the University of Maine, Orono. I worked in the College of Education at the University of Vermont while completing my master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs. In 2001 I joined the College of Arts & Sciences at Niagara University, where I became the Associate Dean for Advising & Administration. I completed my Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration at the University of Buffalo, researching faculty multicultural competence and practices.
I am an active member of NACADA, where I held multiple leadership positions. I am currently an Advising Communities Division Cluster Representative supporting four division chairs, and am one of the hosts for the monthly Social Justice Advising Community Coffee Chat. Since I joined the WNY Advising conference committee in 2007, I chaired several conferences and now serve as Executive Coordinator responsible for their website, technology support and infrastructure, social media, and collaborative partnerships. You can find me teaching Social Media & Technology in Higher Education in Buffalo State College's Higher Education Program, and Sociology of Higher Education and Urban Sketching at Niagara University. |
