About the ArtistMy name is Bailey Cunningham and I am a junior in college. My major is in accounting, but I love to do art on the side. I like every form of art there is, and I love trying forms of art. It is something I hope to keep doing for the rest of my life. My favorite form of art would be digital art.
ReflectionsI really enjoy urban sketching. I have definitely made it a long way in this class. At first, I was nervous, especially when using the pens and the paint. Since I was putting so much time into these pieces, it was hard to trust the process and trust myself with the permanent format. But once I got fully used to using the materials, I actually really loved the results of these pieces. The course also helped me pay closer attention to detail and everything around me. If I was drawing a building, I would pick and choose what to add in to make the photo more complete. This really opened my eyes to everything that is overlooked in day to day life. When trying to portray this art, I found myself amazed with how different my drawings could look with just a little bit more detail.

This is a building located on Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo. It is the closest restaurant to my house, and the employees sometimes remember me by my name because I go there so often. This building holds a series of apartment buildings. I outlined the photo with ink pen before using black water color paint to shade the illustration.

This was my first sketch I created in my Urban sketch class. This is a building outside my house, and I chose it because it had a simple shape to it and looked pretty easy. You can tell how unconfident I was in my drawing at the time. I have improved vastly over the course of this class.
