Reflections on Urban Sketching
I have come to know what urban sketch is no matter how small I sketch but I really made a lots of
improvement since from day one I started this class. I now and confidence in me that I can draw something
that makes sense without giving up. No matter that ups and downs I still made it to the end of this class.
Honestly, I wanted to drop this class when I saw some of the sketches my peers posted but I tell myself that I
can do it. Am not that perfect but at least each week I sketched a lot. I kept on practicing because I believe
that practice makes perfect. Am still working on it on daily basis. I have learned how to add new perspective
on art and how to use pen ink over the pencil. Urban sketch is a lot of work but that’s the beauty of art
anyway. And adding colors and pen ink makes urban sketch special/important. Art is beautiful and it brings
happiness. I really had fun this semester. I will recommend this urban sketch class to other people. I will
keep practicing and sketching all the time in order not to forget what I have learnt. I had fun.

Sketching on Location
A Street
I selected this because I sketched with detailed and perspectives and that’s what urban sketch is. I didn’t not
sketch only the trees rather I sketched people that owed the cars and where they were. Seeing the trees and
people and their cars tells the story, surroundings, and where people live.is wasn’t just the trees or cars, I
added people to tell a story of where we live and places. I had a hard time with the cars and people. I learnt
that adding things or a lot of details on your sketching makes your drawing look beautiful, for example if I left
the trees or cars like that without showing who parked the cars or without showing people taking a work my
drawing will not urban sketch or it doesn’t make any sense at all. I am so happy that I struggled and
sketched the people and it took me more an hour to the cars. If I start putting watercolor on the people and
cars it might not show very well or it might not look like what it is, so I left it like that. It can see it as a white
car.

Building
My sketch included people sitting in front of the house. The building wasn’t sketched without some people in it, is not just the people or just the building. One can see where people parked their cars and I added some details like the sun which tells us where we live and our surroundings. Like some tress and slide work. I had a problem with the house to get the right shape, although is not perfect but I did it. I was trying to add some colors to the trees because the leaves are changing colors now so, I think the trees didn’t come out good. I will work on the trees if I have to re-do it again. The cars were a big challenge for me. (Component Sketch)
Building at NU
This building is one of the building at Niagara University. This particular building is called St Vincent De Paul. I selected it because I have to do my assignment required of me to do based on the buildings in campus. I also selected it because I want to challenge myself in Urban sketching /drawing. I sketched it at home. The street light has Niagara University logo on it, it tells the story of our surrounding, places and where it is. I had a big challenge when I was sketching. when I was drawing the building I found out that, there’s a lot of details and perspectives in it, so that was a big challenge that I had. I tried my possible best. I know is not that great, I’m not perfect in sketching and I have learnt a little bit on how to be independent and have confident in me that I can it. It wasn’t that easy though, but I gave it a try.
Easter Table
I sketched this at home and I chose it because I don’t know how to draw and put a lot of details and all that. I selected it also to keep improving each day and not to give up when I cannot continue/finish. Looking at the drawing one can tell is Easter Table on which families and friends together and celebrate Easter with their loved ones. This celebration comes ones in a year. And it is celebrated in the whole wide world, especially here in America. (universal) I fund it had drawing the table. The eggs are had to sketch, I taught it will be easy to draw. I really want to learn how to draw a table. I wanted to give up when sketching.
