About the ArtistI would describe myself as I am a hard-working and driven individual who isn't afraid to face a challenge. I like to try new things. Being knowledgeable about any subject is an ongoing process, and I’m always proactive about seeking new opportunities to develop and grow. As an artist, I wanted to make sure by the end of the semester that I was able to learn and adapt a few new skills.

Reflections on Urban Sketching
This semester I think I developed my skills with the exercises and techniques we were taught. Being able to
look at things from a different perspective and hearing what other urban sketchers had to say helped a lot as
well.

Sketching on Location
Sunset
This was a photo I took because I love sunsets. I was on a mid day walk and every time I see a sunset I stop and have to take a picture. I’m beyond proud of this sketch. This one was more towards the end of the semester so I decided to pick 2 new ones and 2 older ones from the beginning of the semester and I can see that the growth and drive in my artwork has changed tremendously. Niagara Falls Gorge Trails
My favorite time of year to go to the Niagara Falls Gorge Trails is during fall. The weather is perfect, the leaves are falling, and it’s just overall a peaceful place to me and most people. I try to go as many times as I can during the fall since it’s get really cold over here. I’ve taken many hikes, and even just gone over there to read a book and take pictures. This is also one of my most recent sketches and I’m very proud of it.
Apartment Window
This was my first assignment having to sketch with pen. I was a little iffy and scared of making a mistake I could not erase but that’s the whole point! This sketch was definitely a challenge because of all of the angles and such. My roommate could tell exactly what this was when I showed them the sketch. It’s not my all time favorite but I’m proud of it.
Plants
I was in the Academic Success Center sitting at table 2, really intrigued by the plants. This was one of the few first drawings I did and you can really tell. I had no idea of what direction to go in. One thing I love about this sketch is the details. What’s most important to me is details and colors, I believe they can tell an entire story.
Urban Sketching Kit
When it comes to my tool kit I like to have many different colors of paint, many different sized brushes, and not being afraid if I have to mix a few paints to get the perfect color. My favorite techniques to use are wet-on-wet, dry-on-dry, dry-on-wet, and even using my fingers to get the perfect textures if needed.
