About the ArtistI am a quiet person until you really get to know me. If I am comfortable I can be myself and am a whole
different person. As an artist I am a beginner except the required classes through primary school. |
Reflections on Urban Sketching
In this class I have learned many new techniques that I would have never thought of, the use of different
utensils was eye opening and it helped differentiate styles. I have developed my sketching skills a lot and
have learned to take my time in order to have a better representation of what I am sketching. After about two
weeks it seemed natural and really relaxing to do and that was nice to get out of a class. It was certainly
something to get used to and I have only been out sketching once in public in those first 4 weeks and it was
very different and got me out of my comfort zone and challenged me.

Woodland Trees
I sketched this on location at Reinstein woods but unfortunately it got dark before I finished. Reinstein woods is a nice place and a favorite of mine and a nice place to go to find peace. The story behind this is this is a childhood favorite place that i used to go with my grandfather and this is where he taught me about the
outdoors.
outdoors.
Urban Sketching Kit
I prefer a pretty light load of just a small sketchbook and a mechanical pencil and my pentel fineliner for
darkening things. I like to use the fineliner for most sketches because it creates great contrast between the
dark and light and I can use shading techniques and crosshatching for shadows or textures.
